If I turn off notifications on Facebook messenger will messages still show as delivered?

My family got all excited and started this thread, every few minutes my cell went off— so I went in and shut notifications off on messenger. When I went back the discussion all the pictures etc. were still there.

Yes, it will it has no link with notification settings, when you turn off notifications it only stops popping of alerts that shows you have new messages.

HOW CAN I GET QUORA TO STOP SENDING ME EMAIL EVEN THOUGH I SET THE SETTINGS TO NOT DO THIS -  QUORA KEEPS RESETTING THE SETTINGS SO THAT I GET EMAIL.  HOLY CRAP BAT-MAN!  wtf?
