This is another classic question that many people ask

This is another classic question that many people ask.
To be frank it has no definite answer. But I will try my best! Lets start:
The metrics that you should actually consider are CPC & CPM.
CPC (Cost Per Click) & CPM (Cost per Thousand Views).
Now, the tricky part is that these metrics are not fixed. They keep varying from channel to channel, and depends on many extrinsic factors like timing, content and affiliation. You can more about them in the bottom link.
Here's what you want!
To find out how much money you can make on youtube being a youtuber,
You need to consider two scenarios!
  • One based on keywords &
  • Other based on monetized video ads
You might get $1 per 1,317 views (for low CPC keywords) or $1 per 13 views (for high CPC keywords) by targeting appropriate keywords.
Based on monetized video ads, a YouTube partner might earn 0.5 X $7.60 X 55% = $2.09 per 1000 views. (Assuming pre-roll advertisements and Considering only about 50% of views as “paid views” since many of them skip.)
Note: Google takes it share of 45% leaving your payout. This gives you about $1.

How much money can you make on YouTube?

The average rates that appear to be on offer range between $1.00 and $1.50 for every thousand views.
This is earnings after all other factors have come into play such as time of year, advertiser demand and total monetised views.
The rate may be higher at Christmas time where there is a larger advertiser demand.
This means on average if you manage to rack up a million views on your videos, youll bring in between $1,000 and $1,500 total from advertising revenue.
Of course you can increase the amount you earn from your content by taking part in product placement (be sure to let YouTube know of any product placement in the video settings with the relevant checkbox), affiliate links in your video description or by creating a paid video in the first place.
The YouTube Partner Program currently includes over 22,000 content creators across the globe and pays out millions of dollars every month as revenue to its members. It is a revenue sharing advertising program that allows producers and creators of videos with original content and are popular with at least a few hundred visits.
You can earn money from the relevant advertisements that run against the videos uploaded by you. The program is based on ‘Cost Per Impression’ advertisement concept. Google uses their advanced algorithms to find out the relevant keywords to ensure that the click rate is higher.
Looks like a familiar concept? Yes, it is the same concept that google uses for adsense. To be precise, Youtube Partner Program is like ‘Google Adsense for Videos’. All that you need to have is one or more video with quality content (do not use any obsessive content or racial discrimination content) and good number of visitors. Go to Youtube Partners page and apply for it. It is FREE to Apply and a chance to earn revenue based on the hits your videos get.
Read the Terms of Use and Community Guidelines carefully before applying for the Partnership Program.
It takes dedication, luck, and skill. YOU can earn millions if you are really dedicated to your work for several years and you have enought talent to produce the work.

You can also make money through merch, product placement, endorsements, and support from donators of which the value is even unknown for the most famous youtubers.

I have a friend who made a video when he was 13 about a minecraft mod, and it has now nearly 2,000,000 views and has brought him thousands of dollars with little or no effort at all. Any of us could have done that, but it takes the ones that are actually willing to take chances and go do it to make profit.

Hope this helps.
